Become a Cell Tuition tutor
Teach one student at a time, online, with training and a system behind you.
The role
You tutor your own students, one-on-one, online on Microsoft Teams. For each student you plan the lesson around what they are doing at school, teach it the Cell Tuition way (explain and model first, then work through problems together), send PDF notes the same day, and set a few homework examples for the week.
Lessons are weekly at a fixed time, mostly after school and in the evenings, with more in the holidays and before exams. You choose how many students you take.
Subjects we need
- Mathematics and statistics, Years 6 to 13
- Physics, chemistry and biology
- English and literacy
- NCEA, Cambridge and IB experience welcome
Who we look for
Strong in the subject
Excellence-level results in the subjects you tutor, or a degree in them. Registered teachers are especially welcome.
Good with young people
Patient, clear, encouraging, and able to explain the same idea a second way when the first does not land.
Reliable
Students keep the same time every week and tutors are paid for that time, so we need people who turn up prepared, every week.
What you get
Training from our founder, a registered maths teacher, in how to plan and teach a Cell Tuition lesson, and ongoing support for the questions that come up. Students matched to you by subject and level. A simple system for lesson notes, homework examples, scheduling and payment, so you can concentrate on teaching.
After three years with us, tutors become eligible for the VIP programme at a higher rate.
