How much tutoring works best
Regular beats intensive. A weekly lesson with short daily homework keeps the topic moving at the same pace as school. Most students who stay with us for a year move up a full grade band.

Paying
Weekly invoices
Invoices go out on Monday for the following week and are due on Thursday. Lessons are paid before they happen.
No card fees. Ever.
Pay by bank transfer or by card through Stripe, at the same price. Convenience should not cost you more.
No contract
Pay as you go. Nothing to sign, and you can stop at any time.
Sibling discount
From 1 January 2027: the first child pays the normal price, and every further brother or sister who joins gets 10% off their lessons for as long as they are both with us.
Lesson policies
Tutors prepare each lesson, keep the time free for your child, and are paid for that time. These rules protect that, and they are the same for every family.
Your child has the same tutor at the same time each week for the term. That is how the lesson stays matched to what is happening at school.
A lesson can be moved to another day in the same week or the next, free, with 48 hours' notice.
A lesson moved or missed with less than 48 hours' notice is charged in full, because the tutor has prepared it and kept the time free. This includes illness on the day.
The tutor waits 30 minutes and the lesson is charged.
Lessons run in the holidays, and there are usually more times to choose from.
There is no contract. Tell us two weeks ahead and your child's time goes to the next student on the list. Lessons already paid for and not used are refunded.
Questions
Is the first lesson really free?
Yes. The first lesson is a full lesson with the tutor we match to your child, at no cost and with no obligation. You decide afterwards whether to carry on.
Do you charge more for in-person lessons?
In-person lessons are available with some tutors in parts of Auckland and may cost a little more to cover the tutor's travel. Most of our lessons are online, which keeps the price at $70.
Can I pay for a term in advance?
Lessons are invoiced weekly, so there is no need to pay a lump sum. If you prefer to pay for a term in advance, ask us and we will set it up.
What if my child is sick on the day?
A lesson cancelled on the day is charged, because the tutor has prepared it and kept the time free. With 48 hours' notice a lesson can be moved free.

How does tertiary tutoring work?
Tertiary maths and statistics tutoring is sold as a prepaid set of 10 one-hour lessons for $1,000. You book the lessons when you need them, around tests, assignments and exams. Tell us your course name and number and which institution, so we can prepare.
